STB Inmate Program

About the program

Our inmate populations are the hungriest for real change in life. Time, trust and the proven STB way, has led our jail meeting facilitators to know thousands of inmates in GTA facilities. We have been gifted to be with them to receive and return their love and honesty, and to begin, with them, a partnership in their recovery journeys.

Participating institutions

Jails, where most inmates are transient, have the greatest needs for interim support as they go through extensive trials, postponements and waiting for placement in penitentiaries and/or release in some cases back into their communities, or to treatment centres.

Support our cause

Sharing The Burden/STB Radio is designated a charitable organization, registration #84489 5938 RR0001.  We are self-supporting in each Sharing The Burden group.  Costs for literature (Bibles, Devotionals and Life Recovery Literature), travel to and from institutions, marketing and advertising are supported by donations only.

Growth, by way of training for new jail volunteer group meeting facilitators, and the costs of reaching out to start new meetings in public and in other jails and prisons, are needs we require help with on an ongoing basis.

There are 50,000 inmates in Canadian jails/prisons.  Forty thousand are incarcerated due to crimes related to substance abuse/addiction.  One way or another almost all inmates with addition related problems have mental illness to deal with as well.   Yes, that is 80% or more of the persons in Canadian jails/prisons today.

The needs of these inmates, their family members and the communities that they come from, are far reaching.  We require help to offer our programs and to be part of the requirements needed in the contributing factors of society such as: housing shortages, placement of the homeless, the sick, the lonely, the mentally ill, and those releasees have places where they can improve health, lifestyles and become motivated for long-lasting support and professional group work and counseling.
